Julia Robertson
President
Julia Robertson is President of the Robertson Foundation for Government, where she leads the foundation’s work to strengthen public service and support the next generation of leaders committed to effective and ethical government.
Robertson brings extensive experience in nonprofit governance, philanthropy, and the arts. She has served on numerous nonprofit boards and civic bodies, including eight years as a commissioner on the Civic Arts Commission for the City of Berkeley. She has also served for more than sixteen years on the board of the Berkeley FILM Foundation, supporting independent filmmakers and regional film culture, and for three years on the board of Berkeley Community Media. In addition, she is the Treasurer and Director of Wild Project, a San Francisco based arts organization dedicated to social practice art projects.
Robertson also brings experience working within family philanthropy, including governance, grantmaking, and strategic planning for private foundations. Her work focuses on strengthening nonprofit institutions, supporting creative and civic leadership, and exploring new approaches to public engagement.
She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Social Practice from California College of the Arts, where she studied collaborative art, community engagement, and project-based creative practice. This background informs her interdisciplinary approach to leadership, storytelling, and institutional development.
