Sarah Williamson graduated summa cum laude from Samford University in Birmingham, AL with a major in International Relations. At Samford, she discovered her passion for languages, studying both Spanish and Arabic, as well as her love for all things international. During undergrad, she had the opportunity to live on a new continent when she studied and interned abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina with a local environmental non-profit. Back in Birmingham, she was very involved in her school's international student office, serving as both an intern and a student ambassador.
Sarah spent over seven years living in Lusaka, Zambia. Through this experience, she developed an interest in the increasing Chinese presence in Africa, and has conducted research on African public opinion of Chinese influence on the continent. She hopes to continue studying China's expanding influence and its implications for US foreign policy during her time at the University of Maryland's School of Public Policy.
Sarah will be earning a Master of Public Policy from the University of Maryland, specializing in International Security and Economic Policy, with the goal of working for the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer after she graduates.
