CLASS YEAR: 2023
Naomi Atughonu earned degrees in economics and music performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During her time in Lincoln she was able to study economics abroad at Jesus College, Oxford University, England, during the summer of 2019. It was during this program that she began to develop an interest in international policy and economics. She was also an orientation leader and resolutions specialist for the new student enrollment office, where she was able to meet and work with diverse groups of incoming freshman and transfer students. During the summer of her sophomore year, she had the opportunity to travel to Taitung, Taiwan, to teach English in a middle school program.
Currently, she works as an economic research assistant for a professor who is focusing on the topic of women in the economic field and also enjoys practicing classical music on the piano in her spare time.
Naomi will be attending the University of Maryland’s Master of Public Policy program, with interests in international economic, trade, and energy policy. She hopes to pursue a career in the federal government to work with all three areas.
